EARTHLIGHT FOUNDATION

The Vision

I

It will not be many years before Earthlight Schools and others of a similar kind are to be found in areas of every country around the world. This one will be the first in this country - a blueprint for others to follow and to connect with. This is pioneering work, we want to establish an educational environment in which children are assisted in discovering and developing their own particular talents and passions in order that each individual is given the opportunity to achieve their highest potential in the field of their choice, be it gardening, marine biology, sculpture or metaphysical research.  Examinations on subjects will be the choice of the student based on their own desires for future occupation.

Our children also need to learn from an early age the true situation that humanity and their home planet is in and the solutions and actions required to counter-act it. After all, it is their own future that is at stake. They must be given the knowledge, tools and skills with which to restore Earth's damaged eco-systems and find new ways for man to exist in harmony with each other and our home. This knowledge needs to be born from a raised level of consciousness, a deep awareness of Self, others and surroundings, assisted by experienced and wise facilitators, in an atmosphere of understanding and respect where children are able to thrive and achieve their highest dreams and potentials.

Earthlight school will be an excellent resource centre with a non-institutional atmosphere - rather a 'home' of learning. Offering an extensive library worthy of a university: Sciences and Research departments : Large art/music studios embracing all creative mediums: Engineering/construction workshops: A teaching kitchen: Sport pitches, gymnasium, swimming pool: Adventure playground, gardens & mazes, a working bo-dynamic farm teaching organic, sustainable and renewable agricultural methods - a Findhorn spiritual approach to nurturing the land and animals.

In order to 'walk the talk' of sustainable living, the school will be run as ecologically responsible as possible: Solar, wind and geo-thermal generated power: Recyclable lavatories: vehicles run on compressed air and vegetable oil: The list here would be endless, suffice to say, integrity of word and deed will be employed.

As much as possible subjects will be taught using experiential, direct learning methods through on-going living projects and through the critical thinking of interactive debate and the relevance of topics studied in relation to present and future issues/problems e.g. our history being used to provide a learning curve, encouraging students to find solutions and ways to avoid past mistakes in areas of foreign policies, war, politics, health, government agencies, agriculture, media, environmental issues, technology, industry and sustainable lifestyles. In other words every area of human endeavour will be examined, questioned and improvements sought.

Students will be encouraged to embark on local community and global projects that interest and motivate them personally, stimulating skills in leadership, networking, teamwork, delegation, economics and finance. In such ways the children will know he/she can make a difference, change a system that needs it and help humanity improve and unite as a culture.  All within the context of what is sustainable, protecting the rights of future generations to experience a beautiful, unpolluted planet.

Last but in no way least, human values, spiritual care and growth will be actively promoted alongside careful nutrition. Assisting children to harness, balance and direct productively their own emotional energies and mental creativity. Metaphysical, inner divinity and psychic studies, a wide variety of healing methods including hands on techniques for self and others. Meditation, yoga and marshal arts to promote self discipline and release emotional and physical negative energy.
