Who do we mean by conscious children?  By conscious we mean 'spiritual'. ALL children carry within them the seed that may blossom into spiritual consciousness, and ALL children will tend this way given the right environment. Having said this however, there are some children who have chosen not to forget their divine origins at this time.  They have arrived with their seed in bud and on the point of flowering given the correct conditions.  This spiritual awareness is a gift and a curse for some and grounding in this life can be difficult, Earthlight hopes to provide the means and tools for such natural grounding to occur, as opposed to the chemical smothering that is the favoured method at present.

We intend an environment that cultivates free minds.  A free mind is a conscious mind, one that creates from the motivations of the heart and is in service to its expression.  A free mind and an open heart is what 'inspiration' is made of.  All children deserve this.

Everyone an equal opportunity to be conscious, (or the experience of consciousness) regardless of circumstance and without prejudice.  Each of us can choose this - it is our birthright/state.  To see the term 'conscious' as elite is to say that only the chosen few can 'have' it, - which is of course untrue.

We feel the term conscious or awake, is a vital foundation statement as to our aims and provision for the children we will facilitate.  That some of these children are already conscious merely serves to justify this 'direct learning' facility.  To be conscious is to be awake, alert, open, alive, and sensitive to others and our surroundings.

The live intelligence of the I AM.  

It is obvious to parents, child carers, teachers and all those in direct contact with an already conscious child, that the usual methods of control and punishment that parents have used generation after generation are not working.

 Children are able to intuit the integrity and truth behind an adult's words - an uncomfortable position for many, especially authority figures who insist on rules that in their eyes serve no purpose except to control.

Our children respond to being treated as adults in small bodies. They resist strongly their individuality being forced, robot-like, into a mould that no longer serves the evolvement of humans at present.

Conscious children can tolerate nothing less than a direct experiential relationship with what they are learning.

This is why 'linear' mental/memory learning can leave them under-stimulated and frustrated. They find it confining to spend so much time in the intellectual library, cross-referencing, filing and recalling on command.

Steiner's principles of direct relationship can be applied to a growing, creative environment that supports the conscious child's basic and more subtle needs. A place of education where a healthy relationship to Self, to other human beings, to planet and the greater world community can be expressed and experienced.

Conscious children find it difficult to humour people's 'fronts', masks and pretences, as they can 'feel' the truth and integrity of a person. Nothing can be hidden from them. They prefer and respect frank accounts of what IS (unless they are creating of course), rather than speculation or hypothesis.

Earthlight Schools will aim to offer guidance and wisdom in the development and use of any special psychic abilities a child may exhibit. As well as offering the means to sit any recognised examination a child may desire, from G.C.S.E to Open University courses, it will also offer the older child the opportunity of apprenticeship with experienced people, creating a focus for those whose learning technique is experientially inclined. (Take anything off the list for skills demonstrable on site, and most of them lend themselves to the structure of a skilled apprenticeship with that particular site expert.)
